With this watermelon painting, I wanted to capture the natural bright colours of my favourite fruit in an exaggerated, flat, pop art style. Usually I set my subjects against a sky blue background, but for this one I experimented with yellow which I think really makes the colours of the fruit pop from the canvas.

The two slices of watermelon were painted in acrylics and Posca paint pens on a block canvas that's ready to hang. It can be displayed any way up, including diagonally, as pictured.

The end result is a small but bright and bold painting that would look great in any home, or serve as a great gift for the food lover in your life.
