Spray Paint Graffiti Can Pop Art Painting On Unframed A3 Paper
Spray Paint Graffiti Can Pop Art Painting On Unframed A3 Paper
This new A3 painting is my tribute to the original graffiti and street artists of New York, where the movement began in the 70s. I've always been fascinated with this era so I decided to depict a retro can of Krylon spray paint, a brand that would have been used by the original artists of the time, including my all time favourites, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The can is spraying the five colours that are depicted on the can design that I've illustrated based on the original Krylon cans from the time.
This minimal but boldly graphic piece treads a line between painting and illustration. I achieved the spray paint effect using a miniature paint roller and stencils, while the can was created using illustration pens and traditional painting techniques.
The end result is an colourful bold image that would brighten up any room in the house.
It is painted in acrylics on thick high quality A3 paper.
PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it in a black A3 frame for display purposes.
