Coffee Pot In Terrazzo Kitchen Painting on A4 Paper
Coffee Pot In Terrazzo Kitchen Painting on A4 Paper
I've become a huge coffee fan ever since developing a taste for it in my early 20s. These days I couldn't live without a selection of coffee making utensils. This painting recreates my own beloved red Italian moka pot. The moka is a stove-top or electric coffee maker that brews coffee by passing boiling water pressurised by steam through ground coffee. It's a staple of Italian culture.
As a contrast to the red form of the coffee maker I used a terrazzo pattern kitchen surface on the bottom half of the painting, and some pale pastel blue and yellow tiles on the top. Another icon of Italian design, Terrazzo material is usually used for floors and walls, and occasionally kitchen counters like the one depicted here. The popular form of terrazzo derives partly from the 18th century Venetian pavement, and can be pretty expensive to have installed! So why not buy an affordable piece of terrazzo inspired art for your home instead?
As usual in my work I'm less interested in 3D realism, instead opting for a bold graphic 2D impact. Inspired by classic pop art and modern day graphic design, I like to use black outlines, hard-edged shapes, and bright blocks of colour to create visual impact.
The end result is a bold and bright piece of art that would brighten up any room in your home, although it would look especially great in the kitchen.
It is painted in acrylics on thick high quality A4 paper. PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it in a white A4 frame for display purposes. A4 frames are easy to find however.
